Abstract
Reports a qualitative study of the professional acculturation strategies of culturally diverse students, conducted through agency-based work with 17 field interns from baccalaureate & asociate degree social work programs. Findings include diverse views of professionalism, engagement, & emotional exchange. Through examination of the cultural context of the social work profession, students' reports can be linked to cultural diversity rather than simple educational naivete. In addition to identifying areas for further research, the study supports the development of multicultural consciousness in designing & evaluating student learning experiences. 9 References.
