Abstract
Results of a study that investigated the effects of class size on the learning experience of students in an MSW program are reported. Research on class size to date has focused mostly on children & on information from the teacher. This study looks at the effects of class size on adult learners from the viewpoint of the students. Seventy-seven second-year MSW students (55 in large classes, 22 in small classes) filled out a questionnaire about their experiences. Findings indicate that class size was associated with levels of comfort, activity, learning experience, & the degree of class interaction & experiential learning, but not with level of understanding. Implications for professional education & further research are suggested. 1 Table, 43 References. Adapted from the source document.
