Abstract
Gay stepfamilies are a small, albeit growing, type of family that has been neglected in professional literature. A group interview was used with six mothers and stepmothers in gay stepfamilies to study unique aspects of such families. This article describes characteristics and discusses common issues of these families that were revealed in the interview in an effort to open up this topic for exploration. Implications for research and clinical practice are offered.
