Abstract
It is always flattering when colleagues take the time to comment on one's work, especially when those colleagues have made noteworthy and lasting contributions to our understanding of the issue at hand. Chronister (2007, this issue) and Dutton (2007, this issue) provided contrasting perspectives on findings linking high levels of emotional dependency in men and high levels of economic dependency in women with increased likelihood of domestic violence (Bornstein, September 2006). Their comments addressed very different aspects of the dependency–abuse link.
