Abstract
The present study examines bioarchaeological data affecting two human skeletal series
excavated from the archaeological sites, of SAl and SA2, at Polystylon-Abdera, Greece.
The two collections were dated between the 6th to 9th century AD, and 12th to 13th century AD,
respectively.
Explanations for several conditions are offered, derived from analyses of the skeletal record,
with the intention to decipher the anthropological manifestations and the bio-archaeological differences observed at an intra- and intersite level concerning the two populations.
The purpose of this report is twofold, to reflect primarily on issues of palaeopathology and
palaeodemography, and subsequently to elucidate parts of the undocumented history of these
people.
