Abstract
Reviews some important elements in the conduct of short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and illustrates them with a clinical case example of an anxious 27-yr-old woman. The following elements were identified: active attention, focusing early on a well-defined problem, early transference interpretation, expectation and optimism, and reliance on modifications in technique. The limitations and contraindications for this particular form of treatment are discussed. (25 ref) (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved)
