Abstract
Andrew Malekoff was a pioneering figure in social work, renowned for dedication to group work, advocacy for equitable policies and commitment to serving children and families. His influence extended through authorship of vital publications, leadership at the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, editorship of the Journal of Social Work with Groups, and global impact via the International Association for Social Work with Groups (IASWG). This article reflects his legacy through personal narratives and professional principles, illustrating his unique blend of passion, humor, and rigor. We share our direct experiences, highlighting his mentorship, advocacy for inclusive group work, and ability to bridge global and local social work challenges. His contributions, from scholarly articles to poetry, underscore transformative powers of group work in fostering individual and social change. The article concludes with Malekoff’s poem, “My Kind of Group Work,” encapsulating his vision of group work as dynamic, inclusive, and justice-oriented.
