Abstract

Refractive index Laser beams Nonlinear Optics
The thermal nonlinearity of air at 1.064 microns was measured to be (-5.7/spl plusmn/0.6)/spl times/10/sup -14/ cm/sup 2//W using a high-finesse Fabry-Perot cavity and a 500 mW cw laser with a 0.27 mm beam waist. The dominant contributant was identified as O/sub 2/.
