Abstract
Cytokinin plays an important role in many physiological and developmental processesin the plant, such as regulation of shoot and root growth, leaf senescence, chloro-plast development, stress response and pathogen resistance (Mok & Mok, 2001).Recent years have witnessed rapid progress in our understanding of cytokininmetabolism. This topic will be addressed first in this review. In the second part, wewill describe the perception and transduction of the cytokinin signal, which was alsoelucidated at the beginning of this century.
